Color management

Grand River Printing & Imaging is one of the foremost users of color measurement equipment in the pressroom. Our closed-loop color system from Graphic Microsystems provides the most advanced on-press color control in the printing industry.

We also provide assistance with clients setting up their own CMYK color with recommended Total Ink Coverage values and adjustments for midtone dot gain.

Much of our reference values are derived from the Printing Guidelines Chart developed by GRACoL and BRIDGs. Click here to view the entire chart.

Stochastic screening

The fidelity of photographic detail is now greater than ever when you take advantage of our stochastic screening options. This cutting-edge technology takes advantage of the computer-to-plate laser imaging process to provide near-continuous tone reproduction of photos on an offset lithographic press.

Gone are the moiré and rosette pattern issues that can interfere with the maximum impact of an image. Meanwhile, color density and registration issues are also minimized with stochastic screening.

Soft-proofing

With our Online Job Manager you can log on securely to our prepress system and manage your project from anywhere.

Our system has the following functions:

  1. Submit projects electronically
  2. Automated email notification
  3. Review, modify, reject and approve content
  4. Soft-proof and approve color
  5. Collaborate internally and externally in real-time on live projects

Paper specification

Since paper is typically half the cost of your project, we consider paper information and resources to be critical to the success of your project. We have good relationships with paper suppliers and aim to provide clients with the best possible quality, cost and scheduling options available.

We have a paper purchasing department and can respond quickly to your inquiries and order requests. When it comes to paper options and “outside the box” substrate proposals we are incredibly resourceful and creative.

List management

Working with your distribution lists is not an afterthought at Grand River. We take your data lists and integrate them directly into our production planning and scheduling processes from the very start of your project. This same information is also used to generate all of our carton labels, pallet tags and shipping manifests so that the information you supply to us remains accurate and consistent throughout the entire project.

Meanwhile, if you are looking for a best practice approach to organizing your version and destination information or just simply want to construct a clean and functional data list, we can also help you. We also have a full-time mailing specialist on staff available for consultation.

Mailing & fulfillment

If your publication, catalog or marketing piece is being mailed, we can offer you multiple best-cost options and you can take advantage of our addressing and direct entry mailing solutions to ensure that the piece arrives in-home during your target date range.

If you are purchasing inserts from us, our logistics team can coordinate delivery to mailing or publication destinations throughout the US and Canada. We also offer USPS PLANET Code technology, a special bar code that enables you to track your printed material as it passes through the postal system.

Training

Grand River Printing & Imaging is a leading proponent of customer education in the graphic arts. We believe the best relationships with customers are ones based on a common understanding of the technical details of every project.

We also offer customized training solutions for clients in desktop publishing applications, color management, Acrobat and PDF file creation.
